A collage, quartered

I used some found pieces to create a large collage (11 x 8.5 inches).

I then cut it into four pieces, and sent them out in these envelopes.

To Tonipoet

To Chris W

To Jon F (back and front)

To Katerina

Still winter

After a warmer than usual February, March has been pretty dismal. Snow, ice, rain and fog, with very little sun and low temperatures.

And not nearly as nice and bright as Eva's winter envelope scene. Like the stamp says, creativity!

Bananas in

The Feb banana exchange was not done in an organized way, instead we were encouraged to send to whoever we wanted to. Here's what I sent out:

So here are the bananas that showed up from Momkat,

from Angie

and from Tic-Tac.

A Christmas misadventure

I was surprised when a Christmas card I sent to Eric was returned. It was posted in December, and returned mid-February.

Looks like La Poste was having some issues, because this is the correct address for M. Bruth!

In the end I returned it in this envelope, using the lovely Oscar de la Renta stamps (which look even better in person).

Sunday Stamps flower and art zine from Michael

Michael sent me mail art from Germany in this envelope with a nice WWF postmark.

The iris on the stamp made me think of the Sunday Stamps theme today - flowers.

The current definitives of Deutsche Post feature flowers, and as far as I can tell there are 25 of them ranging in value from 5 to 500. I have received quite a few - iris, tulip, carnation, bleeding heart, allium, and daffodil (sorry about the blurry scan, it was on the edge of a package). I think the covered up stamp is a marigold. I also find it fascinating that the denomination is in cents (e.g. 145), rather than euros (e.g. 1.45).

The stamps are relatively large compared to definitives from other countries, and I think they do a great job of showcasing the flowers on them. For links to more flowers on stamps, head to Sunday Stamps.

And here's the fascinating art zine that was inside.

Collage and blots from Honi C

Great envelope and cards from Honi. I think the 'inkblot' style piece looks like a vertebral column.

A double dose of Hester

Really interesting mail from Hester - newspaper on cardboard.

And this one was made from a wrapping that the library used to entice readers to have a blind date with a book, the only clue is the genre. Got to love the vintage Alexander Calder stamps.

A couple of bags

One received from Jean - I love the coffeepots facing off (spouting off?) and the vintage stamps - in particular the fantastic Leif Ericsson stamp.

And one sent to Eric

An old map of Columbus

A map on mail art - envelope 723 to Eva

And a map on a Finnish stamp celebrating the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics  12th general assembly.
