Philippe C heard about the Jimi Hendrix stamps - I think from one of my paper bag envelopes I sent to Eric - and asked if I would send him some mail art using the stamp.
This is what I came up with using the selvage to create a different view on one side:
And the stamps on the other.
Great! I am going to contribute the Janis Joplin stamps.
ReplyDeleteI never even thought of her stamp - and she has a double J, to boot.
DeleteAlways nice to see what one can make out of the selvage!
ReplyDeleteBeing not a too big fan of Jimi Hendrix (being slightly before 'my' era, and I dislike it when people hurt guitars - seen him smashing his guitar on tv), it is a nice stamp and I am happy to have received it more than once, too.
It is an unusual stamp - I have had a habit of thinking it goes with everything, because of all the colors, whereas the Johnny Cash stamp is perfect for black.
DeleteThe selvage is so often underrated, and underused.
ReplyDeleteI have been keeping the selvage, but not using it much until Mindaugas from Lithuania sent me some great pieces using it.
DeleteInnovative again, Phillip.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI thought of this one (and Janis Joplin too) for today.
ReplyDeleteYou made an original composition!
Funny how sometimes you can have all the pieces lying around for ages, then suddenly somehow inspiration allows you to put them together in an unexpected way that you hadn't thought of before.
DeleteVibrant stamp, what a fabulous guitar player he was. You have found great possibilities for the selvedge.
ReplyDeleteA lot of US selvage is nondescript, so it is fun to use the more interesting ones in mail art.
