Celebrations

This week's prompt on Sunday Stamps is celebrations.

I didn't think I would have anything to show, then a wedding invitation arrived in the mail yesterday.

This is the Contemporary Boutonniere 1 oz  stamp designed with wedding invitations and RSVPs in mind. I didn't even realize that the stamp on the envelope was torn until I took the photo.

There is an accompanying Garden Corsage 2 oz stamp, usually used on the invitations, as they typically weigh more. Image from virtualstampclub.com.

I am not sure if I am ready to attend a wedding in the days of covid-19. I think currently Ohio allows weddings with a maximum of 300 guests.

Would you attend a wedding? Would it depend on how many people? Inside vs outside? Would your answer change if it was a friend versus family versus a co-worker?

  1. The stamps are beautiful. Nothing like that existed when I sent my wedding invitations a century ago :)

As for your question, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't attend a wedding yet. Or maybe I would attend the ceremony or leave when the party starts. Not sure how it is in Ohio, but here "distance social" and "party" can't live together!

    1. Most years there is a new design that is intended for wedding mail. I never buy them, so they are rare on the blog.

I agree on the party part. I wonder if the wedding is planned with physical distancing in mind?

  2. Still a little too early, at least here in Massachusetts. We were the second hardest hit state behind New York. Though our numbers are trending down, I think we will be seeing spikes from the crowds that have been demonstrating.

    1. Really happy not to be living in Texas, Arizona or Florida right now.

  3. For some reason I cannot see the second stamp, but just a blank image. I refreshed the page several times but to no avail =/

It is almost impossible to make me attend a wedding at normal times, so now I just have a good excuse of why not to :D

Btw, few weeks ago, some people have organized a wedding here of like 200 guests even though it is not allowed... and adding it to some other gatherings that have been happening, now we have an insane increase of cases....

    1. I changed the format of the image of the second stamp - perhaps that will help make it visible. Otherwise go here: Garden Corsage

And an excuse that will last for time to come.

  4. I'm still not ready to be in an elevator with another person, so a wedding is definitely out. I can't see myself relaxing enough to enjoy any part of it.
But, having specific stamps for such an event is a lovely idea.

    1. Currently tending towards declining at this time. I think the first class forever stamp can also stand on its own. The 2 oz stamp definitely says wedding.

    1. Great that her wedding was last year, back when things were normal.

  6. I like that the weight is on the stamp, no wondering there about the right postage. Pretty Garden Corsage. No I wouldn't attend a wedding, looking at the photos would be enough for me.

    1. The forever first class stamps have been around since 2011 (I think). Then the global non-denominated rate was issued in 2013. Non-denominated stamps for the 2 oz and 3 oz rate were first issued in 2015.
