Astronomy

The theme for Sunday stamps this week is night views.

I chose the Russian entry for the 2009 EUROPA theme, astronomy.

Update:

If you'd like to see the other 2009 entries, euroswiss has a great EUROPA stamp blog. Note that sepac stamps are also covered. I think the Montenegro stamps are among my favorites.

Thanks for the idea, Eva.

  2. Amillary spheres are fascinating things, I like the old and new concept.
Whole chunks of time can disappear when browsing on Euroswiss's fascinating site

    1. Thanks for naming the sphere! And the site is a rabbit hole, isn't it?

  3. A lovely stamp, and the Big Dipper too.

    1. I think the Big Dipper was on one of the other country's stamps - I think even I can pick it out in the sky.

  4. This is a beautiful stamp. I've always thought I'd like one of those spheres as a nice addition to my globe collection.

  5. At university it was always a treat to visit the observatory but unfortunately we had to study views that the staff selected. Great stamp series.

    1. I don't think I've ever visited one - stamps like this will have to do.
