I chose the Russian entry for the 2009 EUROPA theme, astronomy.
Update:
If you'd like to see the other 2009 entries, euroswiss has a great EUROPA stamp blog. Note that sepac stamps are also covered. I think the Montenegro stamps are among my favorites.
Thanks for the idea, Eva.
This is a great one. It made me go to the site and have a look to all the 2009 astronomy stamps!
ReplyDeleteThanks to your comment I added a link.
DeleteAmillary spheres are fascinating things, I like the old and new concept.
ReplyDeleteWhole chunks of time can disappear when browsing on Euroswiss's fascinating site
Thanks for naming the sphere! And the site is a rabbit hole, isn't it?
DeleteA lovely stamp, and the Big Dipper too.
ReplyDeleteI think the Big Dipper was on one of the other country's stamps - I think even I can pick it out in the sky.
DeleteThis is a beautiful stamp. I've always thought I'd like one of those spheres as a nice addition to my globe collection.
ReplyDeleteI bet it would!
DeleteAt university it was always a treat to visit the observatory but unfortunately we had to study views that the staff selected. Great stamp series.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever visited one - stamps like this will have to do.
