I didn't have to hunt too far this week, as Eva recently sent me this postcard of my favorite author, Ursula K. Le Guin (1929-2018)
A couple of quotes on light:
'Light is the left hand of darkness, and darkness the right hand of light'
(The Left Hand of Darkness, 1969. Winner of both the Hugo and the Nebula Awards for best novel)
'Only in silence the word,
Only in dark the light,
Only in dying life:
Bright the hawk's flight
On the empty sky.'
(The Creation of Éa)

A colourful character, and instantly recognizable.
ReplyDeleteShe's iconic
DeleteI didn't expect to see this today! :)
ReplyDeleteLast week was the anniversary of her death, and I thought this was a good choice for today
DeleteThat is a bright one, pretty too. I never "took" to La Guin.
ReplyDeleteI think the way the artist used shades of colors to produce this portrait is very clever
DeleteI really like the colors and style of this postcard. I’m not familiar with Ursula Le Guin, I’ll have to research on her.
