Today's postcard hunt theme is Asian cities.
I've chosen a postcard received via postcrossing that shows an Indian express intercity train, the Vande Bharat Express, that is used on routes that connect cities that are less than 500 miles (800 km) apart. The inaugural journey was on 15 February, 2019, running the New Delhi-Varanasi route, which is 472 miles (750 km). The trip takes 8 hours, with an average speed of 59 mph (95 km/h), and two intermediate stops.

Ooh roof top solar panels, not seen that before on a train.
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice that ☀️
DeleteThis is an attractive train. Beauty on the tracks!
ReplyDeleteIt has a very modern look. I hope the seats are comfortable for an 8 hr trip
DeleteYou walk 800 km and you almost cross Spain :)
ReplyDeleteI like railway postcards. They seem capable to travel faster!
Should I draw a small train on every postcard?
DeleteI've seen many trains on Indian themed tv shows - but none as nice as this. No passengers hanging out of windows here!
ReplyDeleteI believe this train has air conditioning
DeleteA nice modern train. That's nice if you are taking the full trip of 8 hours. I don't know much, anything, about trains, but it seems if there are only two stops in between it might go a bit faster? I can drive that many miles from Southern OR to the border of WA in quite a bit less time.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is that if you take the train you don't have to drive 8 hours in a row ;)
