Tim Gunn Three

Well, look who showed up back at my place.

This is Mr Gunn's third trip between Des Moines and Columbus. On his trip back to Iowa, the butterfly stamp was uncancelled - you can see this time all stamps have been well and truly franked. Welcome home, sir, and thanks, Jean, this was a fun exchange.

From Me to You, and Tim Gunn, too!

I didn't post this one Friday because there is enough of a clue on the envelope to give the game away.

This is envelope 677, and it went out to Honi C with the addition of one of her excellent faux stamps.

And in the meantime, Jean sent me this clever envelope, which the From Me to You stamp matches perfectly.

Inside was a flier for the Tim Gunn talk Jean attended last year.

I am sure Jean somehow knew I would not pass up the opportunity to use the white space in the name of mail art.

Sunday Stamps - fab fungi

I've shown this envelope before - one made from Adrienne made from the page of a book about mushrooms and featuring some fantastic vintage Canadian mushroom stamps - I thought they deserved a second airing for this week's Sunday Stamps.

Minimalist and more from Keith

Keith from IUOMA sent me this spontaneous and minimalist mail art.

Security envelope handmade envelope.

Inside was a single sheet of paper...

...and the other side.

My response:

And sent back in envelope 557.

With the arrival of this next amazing envelope arrived it seems like his signature is turning security envelopes inside out.  And in this case, he created the most incredible underwater encounter. These images are precisely cut out and securely adhered - I would never have the patience or the skill.

And inside was the sheet, which is stitched back together, with Keith's new additions. The spider is outstanding.

The blog is so far ahead of real time now, that I can bring you the third installment.

This is what I did to the sheet.

And the envelope Keith sent is one of the most creative things I've received this year, so I was trying to come up with something a little extra special, when i noticed he had commented on the mail art book I sent to Erni. So two selected pages from Keith's trashpo book...

The dimensional picture.

And the random selection of stamps I used to cover the postage.

From Me to ....

Cathy very kindly included some From Me to You stamps, and a few of the related stickers, in her envelope received in the last exchange. I matched them with some of my hand made envelopes (bonus points for knowing what they are made from).

Envelope 658 sent to Cathy

Envelope 655 sent to Jean

Envelope 644 sent to Kathie

Black and white clump

It is funny how mail, good mail that is, tends to arrive in clumps rather than as a steady stream.

Sometimes the clumps have a theme. Two great black and white envelopes arrived on the same day last month.

Spy vs Spy from Carroll, with the perfect washi tape accompaniment on the back.

With a cool blue collage inside.

And accidental printer art with well-matched Batman stamp from Kathie.

With a beautiful postcard inside. Kathie wrote that this is a black and white version of a color landscape she painted about a decade ago. I think it is stunning.
