He sent me a package, which looked like this:
And contained this framed collage, or gluepic as he calls them. It was wrapped in a poster he had altered - I'll blog that one over at IUOMA.
I can't believe he was so generous!!
I had been shopping at a well-known US store the day after Thanksgiving (I have only ever ventured out twice on that evil day) and the bag made me think of him, so I sent him a piece I call Bläck Friday. I hope he likes it.
Update: I think this one went missing in the mail, sadly.
Update 2: the circular Global Forever stamps fit the theme of Sunday Stamps this week.

I have a wreath from the Forever stamps but different to the one you've shown us.
ReplyDeleteThe one you have is the 2013 holiday wreath, the one with the green background is the issue for 2014. I like the circular Global Forever stamps, however I hope they do something other than just wreaths every year. I think this design could lend itself to stars, snowflakes, ornaments... only 9 months to go until the 2015 holiday stamps are announced.
DeleteToo bad the envie went missing. I like your clever use of the wreath stamps as the umlaut in Ern's name
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm sad about the envelope, but that's one of the aspects of mail art that you learn to live with. At least there's the internet to record it all.
DeleteDon't give up on it. Last year, I ordered something from the UK. After a month, it still hadn't arrived. They sent a new one to arrive in 10 days time. A few days later, the first package arrived! And the 2nd showed up on time!
DeleteYou're right, it still might turn up. The UK has a surface mail option (cheaper) that takes about 4 weeks for mail to get to the US. If postage is insufficient for airmail, it will probably go by boat. Of course it could also have just gone on a random journey - like stamps I ordered from USPS that come from Kansas City - they went to Pittsburgh then somewhere in New Jersey before making it to Ohio.
DeleteI meant to add, I don't know if the USPS has this option.
DeleteThis is the first time we meet at Sunday Stamps, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYes, in fact your post today made me think of the round global US stamps, so I edited my post this morning. You are definitely help to feed my mail art addiction.
DeleteThe different interpretations from the participants are fascinating - all sorts of really cool stamps.
Welcome to Sunday Stamps!
ReplyDeleteI like these wreath stamps, but you're right - a bit more imagination for Christmas could easily fit into the round design.
Thanks for the welcome. At leafs this year's stamp had an unusual green background.
DeleteI like the idea of the holiday wreath but you are right one wouldn't want too many of them, just think of the infinite possibility of snowflakes. I hate it when things go missing but guess that is the nature of post although the marvel is that most of it arrives OK.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately there have been snowflake stamps for domestic mail recently. so I doubt they'd go with that any time soon.
DeleteOh, yes, it is all part of the game that is ail art.
