XVI to Eric
XVII to Azzaro
The series came about as a way to recycle extra card stock that arrived when buying stamps online from the USPS store, and a set of white pens that I find horrible to use for writing.
What do you see when you look at the shapes?
They look like aliens to me...
ReplyDeleteI often think I can see faces in the shapes, so aliens doesn't surprise me.
DeleteI see growth rings of trees. Or wood grain.
ReplyDeleteW is for Warp and Weft
I don't think anyone has seen trees in the shapes before.
DeleteThey make me think of a zen garden seen from above.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should have saved the shapes for Z.
DeleteVery interesting... they look like uteri/uses? or cells to me... with embryos or nuclei....
ReplyDeleteDon't you LOVE that we all see something different?!?!
WELLNESS flows into my life.
Affirmations for a Good Life
I do love that everyone sees something different - and that is why I waited until late in the day to reply.
DeleteLooks like aerial view of water in ponds.
ReplyDelete--Her Grace, Heidi from Romance Spinners
I sometimes think they look like islands - quite a few people have seen something water related in the shapes.
DeleteSwiss cheese (-;
ReplyDeleteHaha, love this one.
DeleteThe first makes me think: fingerprint. The second? Maybe something under a microscope. Or a map where the white part is water and the grey parts are land.
ReplyDeleteW is for the Watergate Scandal
Fingerprint is an unusual association - and a cool one.
DeleteHmmm... someone dropped a few pebbles in two lakes.
ReplyDeleteEmily | My Life In Ecuador | Water. Clean Drinking Water
Very poetic.
DeleteBushes, trees and finger prints.
ReplyDeleteBushes is an interesting one.
DeleteThe first thought I had on the first image was video game controller. The second one is not triggering a label for me.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that one gave you an image, but the other didn't.
DeleteHaving my son hooked on PSP since recently, also I see a game controller in the first one! That was before I read Lorig's comment :-)
ReplyDeleteIn the second one I see 'silhouette' portraits: upper row from left to right: a man with big nose seen from aside, a bold man and a monkey seen in front, a baby seen from above; lower row: some oval or ellipse, a thinking man/woman and a tree trunk seen from above.
Other than faces, and islands, I often think the shapes look like bones - the lower one makes me think of a pelvis.
DeleteHahaha, I never would have thought that! So original:-) To me bones are a kind of taboo, as I prefer living creatures..
DeleteBut indeed nownthat you say so.. Probably of a yet to discover unknown animal :-)
Perhaps my brain connects to long-ago anatomy lessons.
DeleteCela me fait penser à la photo de Jeff Wall "Shapes on a tree" vu à l'exposition "jardins" du grand palais à Paris
ReplyDeleteHis photo looks like a big eye!
DeleteOu à de la peau d'éléphant !!!!!!
DeleteHi Phillip - amoeba ... I probably would see something different if I could dwell anon ... but sadly rushing through - love that you can be creative from so many approaches ... cheers Hilary

They are a lot like amoebas, aren't they?
DeleteThese are lovely! They look like zen gardens, trails in the sand around rocks. How nice you found a use for a pen you don't like! White on toned paper is so soothing.
ReplyDeleteI like to try and recycle/reuse things rather than throw them away.
DeleteTHE FIRST ONE REMINDS ME OF A SWAMP, AS SEEN FROM ABOVE, BUT CAN'T WHY.
ReplyDeleteAnother watery vision :)
DeleteI'm with Eva -- they look like aliens. Although, come to think of it, I've never seen an alien. So never mind. Now they look like golf courses. Is this like a Rohrshach test? I think I failed.
ReplyDeleteI just don't want you to think that I see aliens often... :/
DeleteNow golf courses is an original one. It's only a test if you want it to be a test.
