The stamps feature the Tjif-tjaf (Chiff-chaff) and the Groene Specht (Green Woodpecker).
You can get a better view with this image. The stamps can be scanned using an app to hear the sound each bird makes.
This amazing piece of mail art was a bit harder to document than normal...after carefully removing the outer wrapper, there was a baguette bag...
And inside was a very long continuous piece showing beautiful drawings from Heleen of all the birds I mentioned I liked a while ago. Plus some other birds collaged on.
This was a big 'WOW'. Thank you, Heleen!
A very nice surprise, and... a lot of work from Heleen!
ReplyDeleteConcerning the stamps, I think they are very nice. I especially like the parts where the wings go out the limits of the stamps...
Yes, I was amazed she took the time to draw all of my favorite birds.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome - glad the envelope made it. Nice that so many birds are familiar to you - it is an interesting sheet to learn the names of birds in another language.
DeleteWOW is the word... indeed
ReplyDeleteYes, the only word for this mail art.
DeleteA birders delight and a beautiful thing to receive.
ReplyDeleteGreat stamps + great mail art is indeed a delight.
DeleteGlad to see the birds and baguette bag have had a safe flight to your place!
ReplyDeleteThank you (and thank you all) for your kind words :-)
P.s. 'Feathered Friends' is a great theme for today's 'f'!
DeleteYes, a safe flight, and a very careful opening from me.
DeleteSure, thank you!
DeleteThose Dutch birds blew me away. Magnificient.
ReplyDeleteHeleen is so talented, and generous!
ReplyDeleteThat idea of hearing the birds calls with an app is amazing. Makes me wish I had a smartphone.
