On the reverse, a (sadly disfigured by biro) 47p World Heritage stamp issued in 2015 of Blenheim Palace, which has a garden designed by Capability Brown. Not so obvious from the view on the stamp, I have to say (so really forcing the theme this week's Sunday Stamps). In 2016 a stamp was issued as part of a set Brown's work at Blenheim, which I do not have, but have shown below).
Plus a bonus 'stamp' from Adanaland promoting the 'National Hedge Fund'.
Ugh! That cancellation hurts my eyes :'(
ReplyDeleteMine, too.
DeleteI stared for longer than usual at that cancellation for the stamps ... weird that it's done like that. :( Beautiful stamps though!
ReplyDeleteYes, the stamps are very nice, aren't they.
DeleteThe two stamps showing Blenheim Palace are superb.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Blenheim would get the amount of attention it does if it hadn't been the birthplace of Churchill?
DeleteThat is my favourite from the capability brown set. I must have missed the world heritage set because I haven't seen that one, good you have a card in better condition than the stamp.
ReplyDeleteI don't actually have that card, but the internet does :)
DeleteI think any postal clerk who defaces stamps in this way should be forced to issue replacements!!
ReplyDeleteIf only!
