I recycled the sides of a USPS box as four Christmas 'postcards'. I have yet to find out if they made it to their destinations...

Update Jan 14 - one has been received in France.

Update Feb 25 - the one to the UK also arrived intact.

I put together this book for the call, using leftover pieces from mail art I've sent/received this year.

100 years of DADA - part 2: the collages

Keeping in the spirit of DADA (I hope) I created collages from found objects, including an abandoned dictionary, a cigarette packet left to rot in the rain, and things in the bottom and side pockets of my backpack.

100 years of DADA - part 1: the envelopes.

2016 (or 2015, depending on your definition) is the centenary of the birth of DADA, an anti-art, anti-bourgeoise, anti-establishment movement.

I attended an exhibit of Noah Purifoy's work titled JUNK DADA. I often use catalogs and promotional material to make my envelopes. This time I grabbed two full museum handouts to create 8 envelopes.

I like this piece a lot, makes me think of reflected trees. And it looks a bit like it is speaking...

Usually it is the scanner that like to make its own art. This time the printer got in on the action. So far this is its only work. I sent a portion to De Villo Sloan.

Another piece sent to Thomas.

Thomas took a piece of this, altered it, and sent it back. Looks like it might have been torn on the way to Thomas.

He also altered one of my faux stamps on the other side.

Mail art books

I sent a series of trashpo mail art books for some IUOMA people - MomKat, Linda F, De Villo Sloan, DKULT, Mail Art Martha, PetrolPetal. Erni has since left the IUOMA platform, he was also sent one. I included many pieces from these correspondents in the books, so they are all collaborations to some extent.

This is just a random selection of pages from all of them.

Bad mail art gallery

There is a very tongue in cheek 'contest' for bad mail art at IUOMA. I sent two terrible postcards out ('Mistakes in label printing #1 and #2) to De Villo Sloan and DKULT.

We'll see if they think they are truly bad or not.
