Ptrzia always sends such amazing things. This beautifully packaged set of artistamps (also called faux postage, or cinderella stamps) celebrating Georgia O'Keefe was in response to my banana postcard! Great fish rubber stamp, too.

DeleteI was blown away by this mail from Tic Tac - all I sent her was a ghost banana on a postcard, and she sent all this.
I like Georgia O'Keefe. I have never come across artistamps before.

DeleteInlove artistamps but I have never made any. My main issue is that I want them to look like real stamps (my eternal quest for perfection ?) but I don t know how to do the perforation. I remember faux stamps from Eni Looka where he had cut the stamp manually with cissors. I would NEVER have the skill and the patience for that!
ReplyDeleteLike you I have no skill/patience for careful hand cutting on a big scale. Fortunately for me, there is a company in the US, Olathe Post, that sells perforated, gummed paper that goes through the desktop printer. The sheets I bought are of the slightly lower quality finish, so it feels more like paper. I believe they also sell glossier paper (more expensive). I am trying to stick with my resolution to use up supplies before buying new ones, so maybe when my perforated paper is used up I'll try the higher quality - it might have more the feel of a stamp.
DeleteI really like Artistamps & had three different ones made, I would not do all the perforating by hand my self. They look pretty real. I plan to start using them soon. If anyone is interested I can send you the person's contact who does these with an old fashion machine, so everything is consistant

She has sent me several artistamps (while I had sent her bubbles and bottles-with-messages :-) (for two of her previous and inspiring mail art projects, you should take a look, I think her online galleries about the themes mentioned still are on the internet)

ReplyDeleteMy friend has been searching, for a few years now, for a rubber stamp of the Eastern Hemisphere. I'm not sure that's exactly the same as what you've posted about, or more "art adjacent."
Well, who is to say what is or isn't art? Rubber stamping is considered crafting by some, art by others. An eastern hemisphere is an interesting stamp to seek out - hope your friend finds one, although you can have them made - there are several places that will do this, just google 'make your own rubber stamp'.
