Sunday Stamps - Pets

Last year USPS issued a set of stamps showing 20 pets. They showed a dog and puppy, and a cat and kitten, so 18 unique species overall. The animals were chosen because they are all legal to own in all 50 US states.

I may have received more, but I know I have at least 13 of them.

If you want to know the story behind all the pink envelopes, go here.

Bonus envelope in from Limner this week with pets stamps, as well as some puffy minion stickers. Thanks for the brightest mail of my week!

And some cool initials on the back ;)

Would you want a minion as a 'pet'?

And to see more pets on postage, head over to Sunday Stamps.

  1. Ils sont mignons les minions mais pas très sages aussi je ne suis pas sûre d'en avoir un comme animal de compagnie !En tout cas les timbres sont superbes ! Bon dimanche

    1. I agree, I think they would just cause a lot of trouble.

  2. No Minions. And no snakes. But, I do have a turtle. He's not at all cuddly, but he has some amusing resting positions.

    1. That's great. I think all pets have the ability to entertain or interest us with their behavior.

  3. I agree with Fafa and you: no Minions in my house, they would cause me a lot of stress :-)

No need to say that the cavia stamp is my favourite (and the fish, and horse are beautiful, too).

I always wonder why cats and dogs are favoured, privileged, this time by double stamps. The bad thing is that they would eat the majority of the animals of the other stamps if they would get the chance...
Instead USPS could have issued a stamp showing a stick insect and some other animal from the pet list (or are the 18 the only ones allowed to be kept as a pet by all states?)

My daughter would love the horse as a pet (and a smal piglet, and a dove/pigeon), but in Dutch 'pet' means 'huisdier' = 'house animal': animal kept at (inside) the home. So I am afraid we won't be able to keep a horse at our home :-)

    Do you have pets?

    1. I don't know if there are more pets that are legal in all the states. I know that, as an example, ferrets are not legal pets everywhere.

Two cats at the moment - they are just as entertaining as minions, I think.

  4. How nice that you have received so many of those stamps! You know I am not a pet person, but a minion? Maybe for a week or so...
That yellow envelope is able to brighten everyone's week! :)

    1. They look a lot better on envelopes than I thought they would. I think it is due to the white background.

  6. I like accumulating a stamp set like that although with the expanding number of stamps in sets nowadays it not as easy as it used to be. Minions on the other hand seem to be easy to accumulate but more uncontrollable.

    1. It's true, there seem to be more and more stamp issues each year. Haha, I like your take on minions.
