F is for Feathered Friends

Heleen sent me an unusual little package with these wonderful bird stamps.

The stamps feature the Tjif-tjaf (Chiff-chaff) and the Groene Specht (Green Woodpecker).

You can get a better view with this image. The stamps can be scanned using an app to hear the sound each bird makes.

This amazing piece of mail art was a bit harder to document than normal...after carefully removing the outer wrapper, there was a baguette bag...

And inside was a very long continuous piece showing beautiful drawings from Heleen of all the birds I mentioned I liked a while ago. Plus some other birds collaged on.

This was a big 'WOW'. Thank you, Heleen!

  1. A very nice surprise, and... a lot of work from Heleen!
Concerning the stamps, I think they are very nice. I especially like the parts where the wings go out the limits of the stamps...

    1. You're welcome - glad the envelope made it. Nice that so many birds are familiar to you - it is an interesting sheet to learn the names of birds in another language.

That idea of hearing the birds calls with an app is amazing. Makes me wish I had a smartphone.
