The sea stacks of Po Pin Chau

Usually when I think of Hong Kong I think of this type of view:


But of course the entire place can't be skyscrapers, as shown on this stamp of Po Pin Chau sea stack, located in Hong Kong's Global Geopark. Click this link to wikipedia for more information. The rocks are examples of hexagonal columnar jointing. The stamp is from the series of definitives issued in 2014.

  2. I received this very postcard from Hong Kong last year (I don't know why I didn't keep a picture of the stamp in the computer). You would expect the same for the stamp, and not interesting geological formations!

  3. Fascinating. I had to go and look at a map of Hong Kong I was so surprised by this stamp. What an amazing number of small islands and of course a very wavy coastline.
