The stamp has a value of 4c - it was issued before we were born!
I believe the postcard was originally sent many years ago. Somehow made it through the postal system here without the correct postage (neither country nor amount) - and no postage due issues, either.
Really? I have received two or three letters postmarked "postage due", but they never made my pay. The letters were delivered anyway.
Once I sent a letter without stamp. I realised it just after posting it. I thought it would be returned to sender, but they delivered it anyway. Postal machines aren's so smart, after all :)
I also once received a notice that the local post office had a postcard fro me, and I owed them 35c (either someone forgot to put the stamp on or it fell off). I paid the 35c, then when the postcard was retrieved it wasn't even for me. The postal clerk was very flustered as to how to refund me, so I just told him to keep the 35c. The postcard was addressed to a neighbor, so I delivered it as well.
Did it travel with a Canadian stamp?

DeleteThat is a nice story! So more or less you paid your own wage to someone else to get your own - temporary - job as a mailman :-)
