Red, white and blue

Well, fuschia, cream and navy - it's going to be a strange Independence Day anyway! Three excellent envelopes from Eva with great stamps, calligraphy and illustrations.

These three envelopes arrived on the same day a few weeks ago (June 4th) despite having been posted weeks apart. They made me think of July 4th. This year is going to be a very different Independence Day, with almost all public celebrations canceled.

It is going to be extremely hot here, so I'm OK with not braving crowds, heat and humidity this year.

If you're reading from the US, any celebrations going on where you are?

If you're outside the US, and big Saturday plans?

  1. I sent you a flag inadvertently!
It's nice to see the postmarks. A bit different, although the letters were posted in the same pillar box.

    No special Saturday plans :|

    1. Yes, two of the postmarks are a little distorted, aren't they?

    2. It's like they were in a hurry. But, actually, they travelled during weeks/months afterwards!

    3. As confused about time as I sometimes feel.

  2. That's a fresh take on the red, white, and blue. Love the illustrations. No 4th plans as local fireworks have been cancelled across the state. We'll probably watch the Best of the Boston Pops Celebrations over the years on TV tonight. And maybe listen to illegal fireworks being shot off around town tonight. Happy 4th

    1. The high today is 94 (and feels like 98) so I am going nowhere.

      Enjoy 'the best of' tonight.

  3. We had some (illegal?) fireworks going off on Wednesday, though all the official celebrations were cancelled. Today is too hot to plan anything. Enjoy your weekend!

Love Eva's little European Robin :)

    1. Eva's little bird is a wonderful watercolor. The illustration extending the stamp is really clever.

  4. Wonderful calligraphy, and beautiful illustrations as always! And how Eva made use of the shoe stamp is great! (by the way, I cannot help seeing the new Dutch flag in the envelopes..)

Hope you have had a good 4th of July, despite of the canceled celebrations (and the heat).

My plans for today was installing a new wifi modem (for which I first had to tidy up a lot to get access to the old modem :-) ) and if you can read my comment, the installation of the new modem has succeeded :-)

    1. Updating technology always seems a challenge, so great that you are back up and running. Too hot to do much here, staying inside feels great!
