A stunning abstract

Philippe sent this amazing abstract design. I love how the stamps (and my address!) fit perfectly on the envelope.

  1. This is perfect!
But it was a bit expensive, wasn't it?

    1. The stamps are in francs so it makes 8.80 francs which is around 1.3 euro. So the right price for a letter to US.

The enevelop is really stunning. As a lot of Philippe s work.

    2. I thought so, but I didn't know if it is still allowed to send this kind of stamps, in francs. In Spain, you can't sent stamps in pesetas any more.

    3. In France all stamps issued since the beginning are valid for postage except few ones that have been forbidden to be used as postage.

    4. Forbidden stamps? What's the story behind them? Would love to hear more, if you have time. Thx.

    5. That's good. In Spain, all you can do is exchange them. And you can't do that in all the post offices.

    6. Stamps picturing Marechal Petain are forbidden on mails since the end of WWII. Some other stamps have been removed from allowed postage because of thechinal reasons.

    1. I think so - the white ink is a little raised on the black envelope.

  3. Wow. He was a Nazi collaborator! Mon Dieu! Now I see why those might be forbidden. What a clever design and layout.
