Once upon a time postage for postcards was 1c (in 1898, and again between 1919 and 1952). And of course 1c stamps were needed for make up rates.

This is a neat work. It is amazing to check how the postage rates increase...
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at how low postage stayed for many years - most countries seemed pretty stable until around the 1950s.
