Fa la la la llama

There has been a proliferation of unusual animals in the past few Christmases... I present the Christmas llama - sent to Momkat last year.

A very slow parrot

This great envelope from Katerina took a very long time to get here due to the pandemic. For a while the Greek post office was not accepting any items to send to the USA (although I could send to Greece). It hasn't been exactly speedy since resuming, either. This colorful envelope was posted in May, and arrived in July.

Finally it arrived with all of its great contents! It was well worth the wait.

Do you have a mail story that happened because of the pandemic?

Fish banana time

Mail art from MomKat that arrived before lockdown.

Sent in this envelope.

No mail from Greece in months. Occasionally mail makes it from the US to Greece. Maybe one day the mail service will normalize.

Snow moon

Here's some moon mail sent to Katerina. Tomorrow is this month's full moon - in north America it is referred to as the snow moon. So far this year we've been almost snow free with no significant snowfall.

This is Europa, one of the moons of Jupiter.

Merry Christmas from Greece

Momkat sent me this lovely handmade envelope.

With stars inside.

Did you receive Christmas mail from a foreign country this year?

Think of summer

Yesterday and today are part of the coldest days in about a decade. Hopefully looking at this card from MomKat might take your mind off it. Summer is only about 5 months away :)

Christmas snowflake

Just to confirm (if you hadn't figured it out on your own) that the postal systems of many countries were slow during the 2018 festive season, this Christmas art from Kat finally showed up a month and a day after it was sent from Greece.

Although it did arrive with perfect timing for the snowstorm we had over the weekend.

W is for Whale, White and Water

Five great shark stamps were issued last year by the USPS.

One of them is a whale shark (my favorite of the stamps), and if you're looking for a couple more W links, there's a great white, and all the sharks are depicted swimming in water.

I sent them on this piece of mail art to Katerina.

For more links to postage with a W theme, head over to Sunday Stamps.

Europa theme - castles

Each year the group of postal services in Europe have a themed stamp idea that they all (usually) issue during the year. This year the theme is castles.

Katerina sent me the Greek stamp, and Eva sent me the Spanish stamp.

Eva's letter contained a lovely long letter, and Kat's contained this lovely piece of mail art, ready to hang on the wall :)

The mail snake

How cool is this mail snake that MomKat sent me form Greece?
