Brain Cell 982

Ryosuke very kindly sent me a copy of number 982, even though I hadn't sent a contribution. It's worth clicking on the image to fully appreciate the work that goes into this.

MomKat is awesome

I have to say that I have 'met' so many amazing people through mail art. Kat in Greece is one of them, and she did something very nice for me. I sent a contribution (clock design middle right) in for Brain Cell, and it appeared in issue #939. Unfortunately, Ryosuke left my name off the list and I didn't receive one. Kat received one, and decided to send it to me!!! Totally unexpected.

Bananas, kaleidoscopes, brain cells

Ryosuke turned one of my banana faux stamps into a rubber-stamp shape in issue 911 of Brain Cell.

Like before, I find the whole sheet fascinating, always seeing something new. And also resisting the urge to turn it into cool envelopes!

Using an envelope that I had leftover from test-printing the one I sent to Roland.

I sent 150 banana life cycle labels in for Ryosuke's next Brain Cell.

Blue tones

Number 361 - moon sky

I sent my next potential contribution to Brain Cell in this envelope. I have to say I find the Japanese address system disorienting, and have to check the numbers multiple times.

The scanner made a mess of this envelope, so I ended up taking a photo with my cell phone - so it isn't quite rectangular. Bon voyage, my many-numbered envelope.

Number 664 - revival

Sent off to Carroll, and it arrived uncanceled, an added bonus.

Brain Cell 907

Ryosuke Cohen, a Japanese artist and mail artist has been sending out a mail art sheet titled Brain Cell for years. Mail artists from all over the world send artistamps, rubber stamps and stickers for his sheets. The sheet is printed and stickers applied.

I sent a few of my stamps - they were not used directly, but I was acknowledged with my address. At first I thought seeing my name on the list of contributors was a mistake as I could not see the stamps - took me a while to figure it out. And there is so much to see, every time I look at it I see something different.

Really glad to see my name is on the same issue as Heleen's 2015 mail snail.
