Ides of Postcards

Lynne sent me a photo postcard of a torn paper collage she made.

Eva sent me this nice postcard of a famous mailing slot in Madrid. Once upon a time sending letters within the city had special mailing slots and also cost less. Ah, the good old days.

This was mailed with very nice stamps. The one composed of words only is one of Eva's all-time favorites.

A Painted card from Steve D.

An altered gallery card from Thom C. Check out the amazing artistamps he added.

  1. Yes, I love that stamp. Who wouldn't like a letter if it bring good news? :)
The first collage is very beautiful.

  2. When we first moved to town 30 yrs. ago, our mail was RFD from the next town over. When we finally got our own zipcode and post office, there were two mail slots in the lobby. One said the name of the town and the other said the rest of the world.

    1. I love that. These days that seems much less common.

  3. my mom has mail from the 30-40-50's where they just wrote "City" - after the street address, to indicate that it was a local letter. if you added the ZIP code, you could still do that today.

    2. It was the same in Spain. You wrote just "ciudad" = ('city').
