Tiger

Today's prompt for Sunday Stamps is Lunar New Year, and tigers, since the Year of the Tiger starts February 1.

This semi-postal stamp came to mind.

USPS issued first issued it in 2011, and it has been reissued several times. I believe the semi-postal stamps require congressional approval.

Currently this stamp costs 75c, with 17c going to various wildlife conservation funds. For a full list of them you can visit the stamp's page at USPS.

    1. The artwork is of an Amur tiger cub, perhaps that is why it isn't so fierce.

  2. Thanks to this tiger, I learned about the semi-postal stamps in the USPS. I have got it a couple of times, and I like the design and the colours.

  3. I always like the front view of a tiger, attractive stamp and the perfect way to raise awareness and money. Love that stamp sheet.

  4. I didn't think the Year of the Tiger stamps is as pretty as the Year of the Rat.

    1. I think it looks better in person than in the online scans. I'll probably have to wait for the whole set to decide favorites - only anther 9 years to go :)
