amphibian things

To end off national poetry month, here's the other found poetry MMSA card that I sent to a specific individual rather than to the general swap, in this case Eric B.

I'm not sure how well the scanner did with this one, you may want to click to enlarge.

Easter Bunny nightmare

Cara G sent this postcard...

...I'm guessing delivery of Easter Eggs didn't go so smoothly for this guy.

(And if you're reading this, Hester, looks like I'm not the only one who can send dark materials through the post!)

FinnBadger on Film

Great envelope from Jean W, based on a suggestion I had about her letters that she showed on her blog. I think this idea looks very stylish with the DuBosch Jubilee Script, and Mr Cash looking on.

the seas survived

I always send the host of MMSA, Karen I, a postcard separate to the challenge. Usually it is something similar to the ones I send in for the swaps, so I don't blog them separately, but for the Found Poetry challenge I created 6 separate cards, so thought I'd share the extras.

It is still national poetry month, too. Here's a bonus link to a great infographic about haiku.

I used one of the post office's stamped postcards to paste the book page onto. I didn't realize the PO sold these until recently. The cards are fairly small (and the pre-stamp fairly large!) but they are decent value for money if you are buying other things online.

Mystery Metro Map 3

Here's another one that I sent in for the MMSA map postcard swap:

And here's one I received from Honi C:

She even created a background for her fictional country, Tyvekistan:

Here's another Mystery Metro Map postcard I sent in for the MMSA map challenge:

And here's Currie's mind-art map I received:

A Jeanarinth and a bonus link

I had a lot of fun making my labyrinth mail art, so I made one for Jean as well, with a tiny bit more color, inspired by the 2013 Global Forever stamp.

MMSA Mystery Metro Map 1

A recent MMSA challenge was maps (of any kind). I chose to send in some postcards with 'Mystery Metro Maps' on them.

Here's the first:

And here's one I received in return from Susie:

Mail art from France - with bonus stamps!

I love getting mail art from Tony M - he always has such interesting compositions. This one has a postcard inside, with a story behind it (and a behind on the front of it, badumbum).

And the other sides....

Now go back and take a look at that stamp on the envelope - it is a stamp made from the sheet of faux postage stamps of my 3D letters that I sent Tony way back when - very cool! The French equivalent of Zazzle etc is so much better - much more focus on the uploaded picture, and none on the company.

Thank you, Tony, this was a very special envelope indeed!

MMSA file folder exchange

I was going to skip the file folder exchange - basically using a file folder as a giant postcard - but in the end I used selvage and some of my faux stamps to create one.

The front...

The back...

And in return I received this fantastic geometric one from Claudia.

More bonus mail from Terrie P

Terrie and I have ended up exchanging postcard mail art outside of the MMSA swaps. She says she likes my 'graphic designs'. I really like the art she makes, too, so it's a win win situation. Great bright colors to brighten up the day after yet another snowstorm. Thanks, winter!

You've been scannered!

The scanner has been doing some interesting things lately.

I received this great postcard from Honi C outside the usual MMSA exchanges. This is what the scanner thinks it looks like:

And this is what it really looks like:

Even what it really looks like scanned the text a lot darker. However the weird thing is the flipping of the purple and green. I had to scan it in a different angle to get it to accept it.

Le Labyrinthe

I sent off an entry in a call for mail art with the theme 'Le Labyrinthe'. Entries that have already been sent are blogged here - there are some amazing interpretations, and an amazing number of them. The closing date for this one is May 1st, so there's a little bit of time left to send one in (letters to Europe take about 5-10 days to get there).

Jean W suggested I send something off for this one - she thought of my Pacem letters when she saw the theme. I had a lot of fun adapting my font to this one, although at times it was hard to keep track of the connections. My scanner was *not* excited about scanning this one, so I had to photoshop an image of the stamp from the web onto a jpg.

Let's see if this one manages to arrive at its destination.

Strays

It is fascinating to me how cards mailed at the same time take varying numbers of days to reach me. I'm not complaining, just interested. It is certainly nice to receive mail on multiple days.

Here are two strays that took much longer to get here than their swap counterparts - perhaps they just prefer to travel alone?

One from Cara from the Altered postcard swap, and one from Joyce from the purple & green one.

MMSA Purple & Green

I sent out cards based on two pictures I took of flowers at home. Altered in photoshop for effect and to fit the color theme in places on a few.

I received these from...

Currie and Helen

Cathy and Ellen

Corrine and Rose

Laurie and Karren

Linda and Joanne

Bonus Mail

The people I've exchanged mail art postcards with via MMSA can be so generous, sending mail outside the swaps.

Here's a great postcard from Terrie, and a very nicely stamped & addressed envelope from Cara.

And a bonus cat on the back.
