Tigertree

This is one of my favorite bags that I kept to send to Eric for his paper bag mail art call. You can't tell from the scan, but the tree has a different texture (a bit like letter press) compared to the rest.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it traveled - hopefully the stamp placement didn't earn any nasty biro or sharpie marks.

Inkblot Mondays part 4

It's time for another inkblot.

What do you see?

I'll be back in a week to share my thoughts.

Here is last week's ink.

Sunday Stamps - Pets

Last year USPS issued a set of stamps showing 20 pets. They showed a dog and puppy, and a cat and kitten, so 18 unique species overall. The animals were chosen because they are all legal to own in all 50 US states.

I may have received more, but I know I have at least 13 of them.

If you want to know the story behind all the pink envelopes, go here.

Bonus envelope in from Limner this week with pets stamps, as well as some puffy minion stickers. Thanks for the brightest mail of my week!

And some cool initials on the back ;)

Would you want a minion as a 'pet'?

MMSA Type styles

For this MMSA challenge postcards had to include 4 different styles of type. Can you identify the ones I used?

And here are the great cards in from Andrea, Ellen, Lynne and Wanda.

Faces from Fabienne

They're masks, rather than faces, but it made for a more alliterative title :)

Fabienne joins the spontaneous mail club :)

Check out the amazing matching stamp featuring the work of Michelangelo Durazzo, an Italian photographer (1935-1993).

Sunday Stamps: photographs

Photographs are the subject of today's Sunday Stamps.

Eva sent me this card with a photo of Bab Nwader, one of the gates of the old city walls of Tetouan in Morocco.

In an odd coincidence, I had just bought a card showing an independent bookstore in my neighborhood to send to her.

And I chose stamps with black and white photos. Two from the sheet Masters of American Photography issued in 2002., and one from the sheet Building a Nation issued in 2013.

For more photography on stamps, head over to the links at Sunday Stamps.

Black and white and Chagall

A striking Sephora bag from Eric, with a stunning Chagall stamp.

I like the appropriate washi tape on the back. Matched by the mail barcode.

Springy mail from Martha

Great stamped envelope from Martha. I like the color of the new 1.17 stamp, even though the price hike from Royal Mail is a bit steep (11.4%).

And a bonus banana article from Private Eye.

L/ART/DU/PAP/ER

Wonderful paper bag from Eric, with perfect stamps. I get the feeling I'd be in big trouble in one of these stores.

Sunday Stamps - commemoratives

I sent this paper bag to Eric. The John F Kennedy stamp issued this year commemorates the centenary of his birth. The West Virginia stamp issued in 2013 commemorates the 150th anniversary of that state's admission to the Union.

I recently used the West Virginia statehood stamp on an envelope to Susan.

And a stamp from 2016 commemorates the 50th anniversary of Star Trek's debut on television. This is one of a set of four stamps on an envelope to Carroll.

Here's a stamp on an envelope I received from Katerina in Greece. It is one of five that celebrates the 150th anniversary of the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, and features the god Poseidon.

Katerina also included this piece of mail art inside her envelope.

Le Pain

Eric sent me this great bag - apparently it holds two baguettes :) Great matching stamps, and a wonderful monkey stamp, too.

Full moon today

These are the moons I sent out for the February envelope exchange.

And a bonus moon envelope to Eric, showing his birthday month. The writing and moons glow in the dark.
