Gnome calendar

Great mail art from Steve, aka Minneapolis Gnome.

Arriving in this homemade envelope

A fun Gnome calendar for 2017!

And a bonus piece of protest art.

If you were making your own mail art calendar to send out, what would you choose for the monthly pictures?

  1. I like the gnomes, and also the sweet monkeys on the envelope.

Once I sent a blank calendar to Heleen: she had to draw something for every month. I don't know if she found the time, eventually. I would like the idea of a collaborative calendar.

    1. I don't think you'd like a collaborative calendar from me if I had t actually draw something!

    2. You would draw your 2017 birds (I mean, 2018) on the cover, for instance. Or your winter trees... :)

    3. True, or I could do something totally abstract - a few squares of color and I'm done!

  2. I made a calendar once. Each month was illustrated with one pagr of my digital art journal. It was quite funny to do.

I love the envelope with the monkeys !

    1. That's a good idea. I guess if I made one I could use envelopes that I liked.

  3. My daughter made calendars of her dogs several years ago. I'm no artist so any attempt by me would be a flop.

    1. But you are a good photographer - in fact, I could take photos and turn them into a calendar.

  4. We select our favorite photos every year to make calendars. They are now requested by a number of family members. I would like to try one with flower drawings as well but...

  5. Fun! Love the monkeys. Using old calendars for mail art, especially envelopes is a favorite thing of mine.

    1. Old calendars make great envelopes, and otherwise they'd just g to recycling. I like giving them a second life.

  6. Hi Phillip - I'm not keen on G Gnomes ... but don't let on please! If I made a calendar - I guess it'd be of Southern African places, or of Cornwall ... but then perhaps other things too .. .I'm not artistic - so it definitely wouldn't be worth advertising! Cheers to you - these are fun though - Hilary

    1. Perhaps I should make a calendar with drawings of people like you and me who can't draw - I'm sure it would be fab.
