The solstice

A bonus post to recognize the solstice.

John sent me a postcard which will be on the blog when the next Bonus Postcards shows up.

I sent him another time-related envelope celebrating his theme as well as the new international rate that went into effect May 31.

For some reason I didn't want this composition wrecked with an ugly ballpoint pen or sharpie stamp cancellation, so I took it in for hand cancellation by the postal clerk. He was highly entertained by the layout, and stamped all around the 'clock' for me with a big smile on his face! Sometime the USPS can be extra brilliant to interact with.

  1. Good to hear something positive about the post office, or at least one employee.
I'm sure you brightened his day.

    And this is really cool!

    1. The vast majority of the postal clerks at the post office I usually go to are great. This gentleman said, "I've never seen anything like that before". He would if I took all my mail for hand stamping ;)

    1. Thanks, I am not sure why I suddenly thought to do this, and I'm pleased with how it turned out.

  4. As I told you, I find this very clever. I'd like to see the final result with the postmarks. I hope John post it!

    1. I hope he will, too, although he hasn't updated his blog in a while.
