I don't have any of these stamps issued by Ireland's An Post, but I think they are really well done. They celebrate the traditional five senses. Each one can be scanned with a smart phone to reveal more information, and each one has an extra feature connecting it to the sense it represents.
Taste - the gum tastes like strawberry - maybe all gummed stamps should have a pleasant taste!
Touch - this stamp incorporates thermochromic ink which changes color when touched.
Sight - the stamp is transparent, allowing it to take on the color of the underlying envelope.
Hearing - using a technique I've never heard of, thermography, when the stamp is rubbed it will emit a sound.
Smell - the final stamp has the fragrance of mint.
I know these stamps do nor exactly meet the definition of monochromatic, except the sight one, but I hope bending the rules slightly is ok.

Not having a Smartphone would make me feel a little left out of these stamp experiences, but I wouldn't mind tasting the strawberry one.
I think the smart phone part is just a link to information on line, the stamps themselves are the real treat.

ReplyDeleteIntetesting too, to learn the Irish word for 'senses' and to see the inspiring design (and discover their extras, ow how much I would love to try the 'hear' stamp!).
I think it good that not all gummed stamps have an attractive taste, as I fear that some housemates would eat my stamps then (and we ourself might lick all gum off the stamp so that it doesn't stick anymore) :-)
Haha, i am imagining a household of people binging on flavored stamp adhesive.
