Boston Public Garden

Gardens is the subject for today's postcard hunt.

CJ sent me this great card from Boston showing the famous swanboats at dock. The opening date for the boats this year was April 19th - and this is the 158th year!

This is also a place I have visited, albeit about 20 years ago.

  1. Looks idyllic. Love those swan boats and so does everyone else judging from their longevity.

  2. Amazing flowering trees! I like the duckling or cygnet near the Boston word.

  3. I have never been on one of those swan boats, though I think it would be fun. The flowering trees are gorgeous.

    1. I feel like I wouldn't be very good at directing one

  4. When my brother was very little and I wasn't even a glint in my parents eyes, the family moved to the western suburbs of Boston. One of the neighbors had asked my brother, what Dad did for work. My father was a lawyer, but the brother said Dad collected quarters on the swan boats (the price of a ride back in the early 1950s). I think my brother had his first ride on the boats and collecting fares and peddling the boats must have seemed like a very exciting occupation to a little boy. The neighbor thought my parents were in dire straits 🤣

  6. Those swans always look so peaceful on the water, I wonder if they are? I never remember to ask my son, who lives back east, and did live in MA, if he'd ever been on them. Probably not, when you live somewhere you often don't do the tourist things. Maybe if you have kids, they don't.
