The Ohio Bird

stripygoose over at IUOMA is the queen of drawing birds. Lately she has been using country outlines as the basis of her birds, and she surprised me with this rendition of Ohio 's state bird. This thing is huge, only just fit on the scanner. The mail carrier kindly put it behind the screen door rather than force it through the letterbox.

Even better, she has a great story to go with it. And in some crazy postal weirdness, she had to add a customs sticker, even though it is a card (on cardboard, actually), and cannot be opened!

And better yet, there is a pair of cardinals that camp out in my back yard. The female...

...and the male.

There's even one on the tree this year.
