Happy Halloween from Hester (part 2)

A mysterious and darkly decorated package made it to my door from that den of iniquity also known as Boston.

Inside was a book of Scary Stories.

And a note wishing me a Happy Halloween - which, if you ignore the scythe (and don't read the scary stories), is entirely possible.

The final and beastly best part was this amazing Halloween art book.

Thanks so much, Hester, and Happy Halloween to you and all the blog readers.

The skulls

Keith sent me this stunning print.

And in the same mailing were these incredible artistamps. I'll have to remember I have them for next year's Halloween.

M is for Mammoth

When this fantastic piece arrived from Eric I knew exactly when it would be published - as part of the A-Z for Sunday Stamps.

The envelope is made from a paper bag from the now defunct grocery chain, Mammouth. Eric says the bags are somewhat of a collectors item now.

And he matched the stamps perfectly. They come from a 2008 set of Prehistoric Mammals.

For more stamps beginning with M, head over to Sunday Stamps.

The clowns are here!

I know some people have a dreaded fear of clowns. If that's you I am sure you didn't participate in the clown mail art call.

This excellent documentation of the Cascadia Clown Parade arrived in time for Halloween in this envelope - I love the artistamps.

And some selected pages

Color!

Great color on the stamp and the inside of the envelope (a clear plastic envelope).

Thanks, Eric, it did indeed arrive in time :)

Shock around the clock - September envelope exchange

I sent out my envelopes a bit late for last month's exchange, so they arrived in October.

They were all made from a horror movie festival flier. I hope they weren't too gory :)

L is for leaves

Maple leaves, to be precise.

To celebrate 100 (oops, thanks to violeytsky for the correction) 150 years of the Canadian nation, Canada Post issued a set of 10 maple leaf-shaped stamps.

And a bonus picture of a colorful Canada Post mail box.

K is for Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is celebrated in the US from December 26 to January 1. See the associated wikipedia page for more info. USPS has issued several stamps over the years. The current one, issued in 2016, caught Heleen's eye, and she had asked me (a long time ago) to send her some on mail. I hadn't forgotten, and I thought this page of fruit from a coloring calendar would work with the stamps.

I used inktense pencils to color the page, then afterwards went over it with a wet paintbrush to bring out the colors.

So much fun hosting a swap when cool envelopes like this arrive in the mail. And glad to hear you're enjoying the blog, Yayoi ;)

An MMSA envelope from Jeanette

Another envelope containing envelopes for an upcoming MMSA swap. This nicely illustrated one is from Jeanette, and she used one of the Disney villain stamps as an added bonus.

An MMSA envelope from Eric

I am hosting a hand made envelope swap via Mail Me Some Art. Some of the participants have used really nice envelopes to send their items.

Here's one from Eric. I love the envelope, and even more impressive is how well-matched the stamps are.

J is for Jimi Hendrix

Philippe C heard about the Jimi Hendrix stamps - I think from one of my paper bag envelopes I sent to Eric - and asked if I would send him some mail art using the stamp.

This is what I came up with using the selvage to create a different view on one side:

And the stamps on the other.

Food mail art from Jean, part 2

Yesterday's envelope from Jean contained this beast envelope which was returned to her. I'm not sure why it didn't make it, because it sends pretty clearly addressed to me compared to some mail i get.
