Sunday Stamps: photographs

Photographs are the subject of today's Sunday Stamps.

Eva sent me this card with a photo of Bab Nwader, one of the gates of the old city walls of Tetouan in Morocco.

In an odd coincidence, I had just bought a card showing an independent bookstore in my neighborhood to send to her.

And I chose stamps with black and white photos. Two from the sheet Masters of American Photography issued in 2002., and one from the sheet Building a Nation issued in 2013.

For more photography on stamps, head over to the links at Sunday Stamps.

  1. The bookstore looks a lovely warm retreat on a snowy day, and a sale would be irresistible too. The Building a Nation set is one of my favourites.

    1. It is a good retreat on any day, to be honest. Even after many years, I seem to be finding a new room I haven't explored much. And that set of stamps is one of my favorites too.

  2. I don't think I've seen any of the Building a Nation stamps before. Very nice.

  3. I love independent bookstores! Here in NL I only know a few bookstores who still have their own identity. Most books now are available in stores which also sell magazines, newspapers, office supplies / stationery, candies and lottery cards. Their book collection is limited to popular books (although they can order other books too). And the internet is a big book seller...
So I always try to visit the real book store, and order books in this physical (independent) book store, to prevent these stores from extinction..
How are book stores doing in the US?

    1. The Book Loft seems to be doing fine - it is a small local tourist attraction in a way so is always busy. Although truthfully I have no idea how healthy its finances are, it doesn't seem to have changed its approach in the 20 years I have known it.

I think that even the chain bookstores aren't doing that well. We used to have a chain called Borders that sold books and music, but it went out of business. I think that Amazon has really changed how people buy books.
