Artistamp / Faux postage MMSA challenge: FinnBadger Fauxhio definitives

I was introduced to the concept of artistamps/faux postage through Karen's blog, which lead to my participation in the Friends & Faux postcard project.

Recently Karen ran an artistamp challenge for MMSA - send in six half-sheets of stamps and receive six different ones in return.

Here is the full set of FinnBadger Fauxhio definitives that I created and sent in. These stamps are printed on gummed, perforated paper.

Su M runs Friends & Faux, and she also sells minizines of the completed postcards.

Even better, on the front of each one is an original faux stamp from Tanglemail.

Tangledelay - F&F #67

After my first participation in about Su's Friends & Faux postcard project I shopped for a card in her etsy store.

Weeks went by, no card appeared. After about 4 weeks I emailed her, and she graciously sent me a replacement. That was #70.

And of course, a few more weeks went by and #67 showed up, with this rather large label on the back:

Looking at the amount of postage Su had on the envelope it certainly didn't seem to be insufficient, however this one must have travelled by surface mail (not sure if anyone uses that term anymore).

This is my addition to this one - one of my black & white flowers stamps. A little large for the space provided, but I made it work. I sent this off to Jan H and her artist group - I'll be interested to see what they come up with.

Friends and Faux Postage

This is F&F postcard #70 that is winging its way to Adrienne. 

The stamp is the first of the Finnbadger Fauxhio (symbol: Ŧ) definitives - the 1/4 Black (the Ŧ postcard rate). This is what it looks like on the perforated, gummed paper I splurged on a  while ago.

Friends & Faux #34 - Update

The Friends & Faux postcard that I was involved in (#34) has made it all the way home!

I added my faux stamp to the F&F card. It is one of a few stamps I created with faux classic sci fi titles. My own titles were inspired by, and used the colors of, Adam McCauley's genius monster stamps. 

[Adam also has a fantastic sense of humor - check his Comix section out - these would also make amazing stamps]

Karen covered up the previous stamp with a muscle car one. Since it was not franked by the PO, I added 66c to the 49c of a forever stamp to get to the international rate of 1.15, since this one is heading to France next. Nice to have some easy options for variety when sending mail abroad.

I'm getting very interested in the whole faux stamp/artistamp aspect of mail art. And where is the Finnbadger post office located? Fauxhio, of course. I have another F&F card heading my way soon, so there'll be a future update about that.

Friend or Faux postcard #34

I was checking out Karen I's art blog and saw she had posted about the Friends & Faux postcard she had received. She planned to send it to the first person replying to that update - and I was in the right place at the right time, so now I have it. 

My addition to it will be in a forthcoming update. In the meantime, definitely click on the image to enlarge it and check the details on the stamps, particularly Karen's.
