A-Z challenge reflections post

Actually, this is not really a reflections post, I feel that this is more like a rewards post, with me being the recipient!

Plus I didn't realize that a reflections post was a part of the A-Z challenge

Helen surprised me by sending me this fantastic envelope and card to congratulate me on finishing, and share a few of her thoughts on how much she enjoyed my blog during the A to Z challenge in April.

One thing that Heleen wrote that I agree with is that she was surprised Eva and I did not have the same word, or even the same mail during the whole month. Which is pretty surprising as we occasionally show the same thing on the same day.

And Eva sent me some of her reflections in this wonderful envelope made from a Desigual bag. This store name seemed familiar to me, but not because I shop there - the nearest one is in NYC. 

As luck would have it, 614 Magazine, from which many of my envelopes are created, had this as their April cover.

It made perfect envelopes to reply to Eva and Heleen. Thanks so much to both of you for your mail and blog friendship, I really appreciate it.

Red mail art

I'm bending the Sunday Stamps rules today, where the theme is 'the color red'. Actually, I pretty much threw the rules out of the window and let a passing band of animals trample them. Just kidding, you can skip the mail art part and find my red(dish) stamps below.

Independence day happened recently, and I sent this piece to The Artist in Seine.

I found an image of stamps I used to send a package a while ago, featuring red and blue stamps.

Two stamps from the lead up to the  New York World Stamp show, issued in 2015. The $2 stamp celebrating the postal error of the upside down Flying Jenny stamp printed using the intaglio technique, and a 46c patriotic star, both issued in 2013.

USPS controversially printed 100 sheets (6 stamps per sheet, sold inside an opaque envelope) of inverted Flying Jennys out of the several hundred thousand print run that were randomly distributed to post offices and the stamp fulfillment service center, thus fabricating a rarity. Despite the controversy, the rarer stamps are currently worth tens of thousands of dollars. The value of $2 was also controversial - no domestic rates are that high, so the stamp does not see much use in regular mail. The original error stamps were valued at 24c, and are currently worth in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Eva is the person who got me interested in the 'Who is Eduardo Munez?' project. This envelope was created at the same time as the one I made for the project.

Tony M is having an exhibit, and it is something to do with &. I have done very little stamping like this, and although I like the result it is by no means the nice clean envelope I had in mind when I started. Even though I was using a cheap kit from target, it gave me a new appreciation for stampers.

MMSA envelopes received - part 4

I received this envelope fashioned from the insides of multiple security envelopes.

The texture of it made me think of the intaglio Inverted Jenny $2 stamp.

I liked the colors and energy of the Tito Puente stamp for this one.

La Poste - verso verso

Tony M sent me a great postcard labeled Verso Verso. The idea is that after receiving the card you flip it over and send it back.

Of course Tony sent it with a faux stamp.

I did send it back with a faux stamp in the shape of a cat, but did affix postage. I placed the inverted Jenny stamp on its side. I'm such a rebel.
