He sent me this nice envelope and card to wish me happy 2017.

I've been contributing every now and again for a while now. Here's my latest contribution - I hope it made it, as it was 12 x 12 inches!

(And a confession - I mailed it in a mailing box and it sort of got stuck a little bit, fairly far inside - I couldn't get it to fall all the way into the box, so hopefully that didn't annoy a postal worker).

Update - it arrived in France, slightly bent, and not even postmarked!

It's been a while since I sent anything to Christophe. Here's my first mailarteeth for 2016.

Advent - teeth

This year I created a replica of the US flag to scale using toothpaste boxes, replacing the stars with cut out teeth. The flag was cut into 5 pieces sent separately, and they all arrived safely in France for Christophe's mailarteeth project to form the complete picture.

Mailarteeth - don't pick your nose, aka envelope from the dark side ahead - and gold

It's been a while since I've found any good teeth-related mail worth sending.

Christophe already sent me a response in one of his cleverly folded magazine pages.

Apparently I have sent 18 MailArTeeth pieces to him, so he awarded me a gold medal.

Blue, white and red

If you put the five pieces of toothpaste packaging-related mail together, this is what you get. And there can only be one recipient - Christophe's mailarteeth project. This is the largest piece of mail art (when put together) that i have made - 26.0 cm x 49.4 cm. Who knew the official US flag has such an unusual height to length ratio? (1: 1.9)

I hope all the pieces arrive - otherwise it's going to look a bit odd.

And various flag stamps to cover the postage.

I also sent a Tricolor in for the project (link in the side bar).

Stamped with the new $1 patriotic waves stamp, and last year's red, white and blue forever stamp.

The 'waves' stamps never scan well - they are striking in person. I like these more than the waves of color stamps.

Update:

I sent the five pieces on five consecutive days, and they arrived in France on five consecutive days according to Christophe's blog! I am not sure why it worked out so perfectly, but I love the fact that it did.

Envelope 60 - mountainarteeth

I convinced myself that the white mountains look like teeth so I could send Christophe yet another envelope.

This is the oldest of the stash of envelopes I remembered - if you go to the first post of the blog, then you'll see it on top of the pile.

The Alaskan flag stamp fits today's Sunday Stamps theme of water. Not to mention the frozen water on the envelope and mountains of the other stamps.

And the image on the inside flap couldn't be more different...

Mailarteeth special

This is turning into a mini-French series.

For some reason Christophe's mailarteeth blog fascinates me.

Here's a feline dental record turned into an envelope for his project.

Looking at it now, I wish I had put the tiger stamp in the middle of the teeth and written the address along the bottom.

One of the original envelopes, #77, is perfect for Christophe's project. He thinks I am now addicted to it, and I am tending to agree with him.

Bonus! Christophe surprised me with mail art earlier this month.

I think he likes his envelopes to be slightly oddly shaped (look at Eric's blog link in the list to the right - there's a recent one from M. Blaise). And hexagonal stamps! I think that a traditional nickname for France is "L'hexagon" because of the country's shape.

Rêve de Fakir

Elles sont fines, acérées et d'un bel acier bleuté.

Les beaux papillons bleus qui volent au dessus d'elles sont totalement insouciants, mais ils sont si légers, que pourrait-il leur arriver ?

Translates as:

Dream of the fakir

They are thin, sharp and a beautiful steel blue. 

The lovely blue butterflies flying above them are totally unconcerned, but they are so light, what could happen to them?

Sounds so much better in French!
